Dr. Kelly Watson & Larissa Watkins

Dr. Kelly Watson has been my advisor for Geography & Geospatial techniques for the past several years. She teaches Remote Sensing as well as a variety of Geography courses. She really enjoys working with students one-on-one for research and I am lucky enough to get to work with her on several projects.

Originally from Massachusetts, Emma T. Comery is currently a senior at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, where she is pursuing an English and Spanish double major with a creative writing minor. She has published several poetry and fiction pieces in Centre's Vantage Point literary magazine, of which she is also the Copy Editor.

We’re featuring anthropology majors and minors Alisha Rhymer and Breanna Bowling for their food insecurity research with Dr. Amanda Green in our Mentorship of the Month series. The team is conducting interviews with EKU students who identify as food insecure, defined as students who do not have enough access to food or quality food to lead a healthy and productive life.

This month's Mentorship of the Month goes to two animal studies majors, Ashley Templeton & MacKenzie Gorden, and their mentor, Dr. Stephanie McSpirit in Sociology. They are part of a team of university students who will be working on the Mountain Horse Oral History project. This group was formed after Ashley and MacKenzie came to Dr. McSpirit asking to be a part of the project.

This month’s Mentorship of the Month goes to Dr. Stephanie Adams in social work and her three students: Morgan Lakes, Sarah Correll, and Andrea King. Morgan took Dr. Adams for SWK 360 and knew her as the director of the social work program. They were tasked with completing research on a macro level for a class project.

October's Mentorship of the Month goes to Jennifer Meunier and Dr. Michael J. Bradley in parks and recreation. The two became acquainted on a service-learning trip in the summer. Jennifer was curious on how to properly go about conducting a true research project, so Dr. Bradley suggested they embark on a direct impact study, because this was their best option.
