Mentorship of the Month: Breanna Bowling, Alisha Rhymer and Dr. Amanda Green

We’re featuring anthropology majors and minors Alisha Rhymer and Breanna Bowling for their food insecurity research with Dr. Amanda Green in our Mentorship of the Month series. The team is conducting interviews with EKU students who identify as food insecure, defined as students who do not have enough access to food or quality food to lead a healthy and productive life. Their goal is to determine how food insecurity impacts students during their time at EKU as well as their successes and challenges after graduation. They hope to use this data to join the national conversation on student food insecurity and inform policy and programming at EKU. They are currently enrolling participants in their study, so any interested students who identify as food insecure should send an email to Dr. Amanda Green. 

After graduating from EKU’s Anthropology Program in 2020, Rhymer is pursuing her Masters in History at EKU. Bowling, a senior Public Health major and Anthropology minor, plans to pursue a Masters in Public Health after graduation. Bowling presented their initial findings at Kentucky’s 2020 Posters-at-the-Capitol event.
