Dr. Stephanie Adams, Morgan Lakes, Sarah Correll, and Andrea King Mentorship of the Month
This month’s Mentorship of the Month goes to Dr. Stephanie Adams in social work and her three students: Morgan Lakes, Sarah Correll, and Andrea King. Morgan took Dr. Adams for SWK 360 and knew her as the director of the social work program. They were tasked with completing research on a macro level for a class project. They project called on the students to collect a needs assessment on vulnerable populations and then develop a strategy to better the needs of those populations. This project has been used in the Magdalene Project. They collected donations in the community for the Natalie’s Sisters Organization.
Sarah's mentorship began as the result of class project in which they had to collect a needs assessment on a population as well as applying scholarly articles to this needy populations. They then would work with this population across a four-month practicum, learning and experiencing.
Andrea and Dr. Adams created their team as the result of a social work class assignment. They had to choose a vulnerable population and complete a needs assessment on that population. Their findings were then presented in class as well as at church functions.
