Mentorship of the Month: Dr. Walter S. Borowski, Zeke Buskirk & Scott Winter

Dr. Walter Borowski, Zeke Buskirk & Scott Winter

Dr. Walter S. Borowski, Professor of Geosciences, is the mentor of Reid (Zeke) Buskirk and James (Scott) Winter who are conducting undergraduate research at EKU’s Meadowbrook Farm. Zeke and Scott are assessing the manner of transport and measuring the quantity of nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus) that runoff from the farm to enter Muddy Creek, a tributary of the Kentucky River. This is significant because much or most contamination seen in America’s waterways today are derived from non-point sources like farms, towns, and cities.

Borowski’s colleague in Geosciences, Dr. Jonathan Malzone also works on the project with his students. They receive support from the Department of Geosciences, from the College of Science, and from the University Research Committee.
